Windows 7 (x64) Desktop Gadgets stopped working

QUESTION:

My desktop gadgets in Windows 7 (x64) stopped working(Not viewing correctly). Tried to Google the problem, none of their solutions fix it. 

When I add any gadgets, I can only see a small white box .75cm by 1cm and the X to delete or remove and the drag to move directly under that to the tiny blank box's right side. Anyone else have the Gadget stop working?

SOLUTION:

Is UAC (User Account Control) switched off? Gadgets will not work if you have switched UAC off so you will need to switch it back on again. 

If you still have the issue after that try a system restore back to a time when they were working as it may be a system/registry corruption issue.
