5U876 driver for x64 Windows

QUESTION:

My laptop VPCF111FX/B was working with camera. I updated the OS with SP1 and other updates. It is now showing "5U876 device" as undefined device. I downloaded the software update from esupport.sony.com and it errors out "for Vista" only.

Can someone tell me how to fix it without re-imaging with the factory supplied image?

I had tremendous heating problems with this laptop and the heat sync was replaced and still heat & fan are annoying.

This is my second VAIO, first being AR2700.

Please help me fixing the camera driver.

SOLUTION:

Your VPCF111FX/B has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed, you stated “vista only” did you install an older Vista webcam driver?? We suggest updating the 5U876 device to the native win7 USB webcam driver.

Just in case you are unsure how to do so,
We will include update instructions here for your convenience.

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. In the list of hardware categories, find the device that you want to update (5U876), and then double-click the device name.

3. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, and then follow the instructions. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

For your Fan issues, please click on the link below to install the Latest BIOS update: Ver (R0280Y6)

This utility updates the BIOS to version R0280Y6 and provides the following benefits:

• Improves thermal management
• Resolves an issue where the computer may fail to boot to the operating system

The BIOS update will only help with thermal control, you stated it was also annoying. Is this due to Fan noise? If your fan is dirty please follow these instructions to clean
