QUESTION:
I have
a Vaio VPCCW23FX running Windows 7 Home Premium. My original Vaio hard drive is
dying (after just over 2 years). I attempted to create recovery disks from my
laptop but that process failed.
My problem seems to be this:
I
have downloaded the new drivers from Intel. I added them, or at least it looked
like I added them, through the Recovery process. I am still getting the same
error, saying that Windows Setup can not configure Windows on this computer's
hardware.
I am beyond frustrated; when I found this Microsoft bulletin I thought for sure this would fix the problem. My chip set is 330M and the old driver is version 9.1.1. Intel says there will be problems with new hard drives with anything under version 9.6.
I am trying Method 2, editing the BIOS, but there doesn't seem to be anything editable there. I have 5 tabs in BIOS:
Main, Advanced, Security, Boot, and Exit. The only things I can change are the date & time, whether or not to enable Intel Virtualization Technology, putting on a system password, and boot priority.
I thank you again in advance for any help with this issue.
