Bios changes won’t save

QUESTION:

i have vaio laptop vpc13fjx. Any change i make in bios wont be save’s mean boot priority changes, enabling virtualization....

I have tested updating the bios, disconnecting bios battery but they didn’t work for me...

Any idea?

SOLUTION:

Probably, this is a hardware issue or corrupted BIOS. Try to reset BIOS, do not update then make any changes. Your Vaio vpc13fjx is not being recognized by our system. Perhaps this is not the right model or a non U.S Model

My USB ports are not working: Sony Vaio Duo 11

QUESTION:

I have a Sony Vaio duo 11 and the usb ports are not working. Optical 3 button mouse’s cannot connect nor can my USB both of which work on other computers. I have absolutely no idea what the problem is.

Although, I looked into device manager and found USB root hub xhcl had an exclamation mark next to it. It says that it cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39). When I try to update the driver for it says the driver is up to date. Does this have anything to do with it?

I've also tried uninstalling all the usb extensions and rebooting. It did nothing (All the extensions came back even xhcl with the exclamation mark).

I really have no idea what to do and any help will be appreciated.

SOLUTION:

Possibly the driver is corrupted or the USB devices are busted. Let's isolate the issue. Kindly follow these steps:

  •      Power cycle - Remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds OR, if the battery is not removable, remove all peripherals -> look for a battery off button on the bottom of the laptop -> push the button for 5 seconds
  •       Reset BIOS
  •      Download the drivers from Sony support page (from where you purchased the unit)
  •       Run Vaio update and Windows update.
