Vaio SVD13215PXB is stuck in login loop. Can't shut down; can't go forward


QUESTION:


My Vaio Duo Ultra book (SVD13215PXB) has gone into a login loop.  It appears to be looking for a file that has either been corrupted or gone missing.  Regardless, I can't shut it down with normal procedures and the "assist" button does not interrupt the cycle.  Is there any way to shut this down without just letting the battery run down?


Once it is shut down, I might be able to reboot and troubleshoot.
