Uninstall vaio care 6.4

QUESTION:

I bought vaio model vpcee42fx 16 months ago been having trouble with it since warranty expired. Vaio care main page comes up then it freezes, model tag and service info at button of page no longer appears. Windows media player stop working at same time.

I am also now having to also hold power button to power off and on unit many times to get vaio screen to come up, this issue started first then the above with vaio care started. new memory installed, and new battery both less than 1 month old.

I can send screen shots of event viewer and vaio care screens if it will help. New issue I uninstalled vaio care but now cannot reinstall should I just uninstall windows then reinstall plus vaio care then?

SOLUTION:

You might want to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and the System File Checker tool. The instructions are provided via links below.

If there are no errors found then perform system restore back to when it was working before if applicable. The last option is to re-install windows and then update Vaio Care software to the current version from the Sony eSupport website. Vaio PCG-8112L

QUESTION:

I just downgraded my Sony Vaio PCG-8112L to windows Xp sp3 and reinstalled drivers but I still DO NOT HAVE SOUND and mic, webcam does not work after the Windows Xp downgrade! Who can help? Any drivers out there I could use or settings that need to be altered?
OS: Windows Xp sp3

But I can't setup driver Sound card

And now I can't use to audio, mic, webcam

Help me, please!!!

SOLUTION:

Per your Chassis number PCG-8112L you are referring to a VGN-AR7 series notebook. It can be confusing since the sticker on the bottom says "Model number-PCG-8112L." To find your exact model tilt your screen away from you to about 120 Degrees. the ID label is just under the right speaker next to the Hinge.

The VGN-AR7 series either came with Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium or Ultimate. there are no XP Downgrade Drivers, or XP support for this model. If you Choose to upgrade instead, follow the below instructions (also not supported)

Unfortunately models manufactured earlier than Fall 2008 are not fully supported by Sony for the Windows 7 Operating System as is the case with the AR7

If a specific driver that you are looking for is not posted at

Then you can look to the following options:

1) You can try the driver posted for Windows Vista by running it in compatibility mode in Windows 7.

To run a file in compatibility mode, right-click on the installation (.exe) file and select properties.
In the properties windows click on the compatibility tab.
In the compatibility tab, check the box to run in compatibility mode and select the Windows Vista Operating System that the driver was designed for.
Click OK and run the driver installation package.

2) Try using drivers supplied with the Windows 7 operating system.
Many Microsoft drivers built into Windows 7 will provide basic functionality for a wide range of devices including Mouse/touch pad, WLAN and Webcams.
Please note that generic drivers for these devices may not enable special features for the device, but should still allow general functionality.

3) If the above two steps do not solve your issue, try performing an upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 instead of a clean install.
A clean install involves installing Windows 7 with no previous operating system present on the unit.

When an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 is performed instead, many of the compatible drivers present in Windows Vista will be transitioned over to Windows 7.

Graphics Card Upgrade For F series

QUESTION:

I was looking into upgrading my laptop but as you know, most laptops aren't up gradable so i looked into my F series Sony VAIO (VPCF23JFX) and i am wondering if it is up gradable as it seems to be under performing because i ordered the battlefield 3 bundle and it can barely run low graphical settings.

SOLUTION:

Your VPCF23JFX has External graphics. This means the graphics are not part of the CPU but on its own GPU chip directly on the Main board.
Unlike CPU Chips GPU chips are Surface mount soldered directly onto the board, and not in a removable ZIF Socket. This is true for almost all Laptops.

Two things you can do are, ensure you have the latest graphics driver installed:

And second, max out your memory. if your unit does not have 8GB of memory it can be upgraded to 8GB with 2x 4GB/DDR3/1333/SO-DIMM Modules by removing any 2GB modules. if you have 8GB already you have the max RAM installed
